Instead of going to college, I could have joined the British Merchant Marines, like this Paul Messenger. This is Paul Messenger, a master Mariner. Hes set up an entire website about him, www.paulmessenger.net. I wrote to him about a month ago to see if I could buy a marines hat that said Paul Messenger, I don't know, it would be kind of funny. Apparently, he doesn't think so, he still hasn't written me back. I guess I'll have to stay in college and not join the British Merchant Marines.

Things I Learned in Chicago

1. Alex and I set back to Boston after an awesome week in Chicago and pulled off the road to gas up in Clearfield, PA. I went inside to what I thought was just a convenience store while Alex was pumping gas. Inside I found a diner attached to the store. Sounds normal enough, right? Wrong. The dining room was packed but it was earily quiet and everyone was just looking down at their plate. Fine, quiet hicks minding their own business. I can deal with that. But they gave me the coldest stares as I walked to the bathroom. OK, still fine, I'm an outsider. I went to the convenience store after the bathroom to go get a drink and next to all the drinks and snacks was a whole lot of hunting equipment. Umm, lets review, creepy quiet hicks, cold stares and guns. Methinks its time for this outsider Jew to hit the road. Alex and I agreed in the car that we were never so happy to leave a rest stop. We've stopped for the night in the middle of PA. It's a lot more populated which is comforting. And hey, can't complain about a motel with free WIFI. However, Alex can complain about the protein stain (haha, protein...) he found on his blanket.

Sweet My Home For a Week Chicago

Two days ago I hit the road with my roommate Alex and headed for Chicago. Alex, for any of you reading who don't know me, is my best friend at Brandeis. He's from Chicago and we are spending the week at his parent's house. The road trip here was fun. There isn't too much between the east coast and Chicago. The middle of Pennsylvania is scary. It seems very removed from the modern age and I really think its where you go if you don't want to be found. Alex and I stopped at a rest stop and we were very clearly the "city folk" that just didn't belong. We stayed the night outside of Cleveland and pushed through today to Chicago. This picture is from my car as we entered the city and were welcomed by the Chicago skyline. We're going to be all over the place this week. Tomorrow we're going to meet up with my long time friend Ed and have a night out on the town. Ed is featured earlier in my blogging career. Look back to the picture of him sleeping from an earlier post. We're going to hit the major museums in the city, take a trip to the Budweiser plant in Milwaukee and visit the Indiana Sand dunes. Apparently they shipped alot of sand into Indiana to create a desert park out of sand. There are large hills that people slide down and even surf. I'll probably report on this at a later date. More later, so long for now blog!

Happy Birthday Nathan and Liz

Nathan, this is my favorite result of the google image search for "Blond head."

Call Me A Yuppy Bastard, But I Love Sirius Radio

I've recently jumped on the bandwagon and have purchased a sirius radio system for myself. After playing around with it for a week now I've come to some conclusions. Boston radio just isn't that good. I like making mix tapes and cds, but they get stale after a while. There is always something to listen to on Sirius. There are over a 100 music and talk channels and I don't mean to sound like a Sirius advertisement, but really, there is never a time where there is nothing to listen to anymore. I especially love, Left of Center (the indie rock channel) and Octane (the metal channel). Maybe if I lived in another city, I wouldn't need Sirius as much. My friend Ed, informed me, in a recent conservation, that Chicago has a lot of good stations, but not here. Who can listen to WBCN, FNX or the oldy stations that have the same old tired playlists. Yes, I also do like Howard Stern. It has been really interesting listening to Stern over the past week. His programming on Sirius is a lot different from his old show. It's uncensored and he runs 2 channels. He does his normal morning show, which airs on both channels but one is 3 hours ahead of the other (giving the west coast audience a better time to listen). He also has given birth to other shows on his station. Last week, he gave Danny Bonaduce his own show for 3 hours in the afternoon. I mean what's better than listening to this guy talk about the dumb drunken shit he does for 3 hours?!?!? Stern is working hard to create is own empire on Sirius and he seems to be succeeding. Millions of people have purchased Sirius since he went on the air a few weeks ago. Who knows how long the Sirius thing will last. My dad told me that when cable tv came about, everyone said that it wouldn't last, and that people wouldn't pay for tv. I don't know if the same thing will happen with Sirius. But one thing is for sure, I am hooked on Sirius radio.

Who is allowing this shit to be released?!?!?!?

Let me start this post by saying, I have no idea what this movie is about. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey must really have nothing better to do these days. More Paul Blog Indeed. Last night was a drunken walk down college memory lane. For those of you non-Brandeis kids, the Mad Raven is a bar in Waltham that Brandeis kids go to get hammered. I'm not sure why, but Wednesday night, is some kind of college night, which means that half of the senior class showed up. It was fun to see some people and just way too awckward to see others.

So, the other day, I decided to google my name, as some people to do every now and than. I was shocked to find the website of Paul Messenger, not me, the other Paul. This guy is in the British merchant marines and I guess decided a nice website about him would be fun. I emailed him, basically just alerting him, to the other Paul Messenger in the world. I was thinking to myself that it would be funny if we got into some Twins (the movie with Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger) esk adventure. Who, Knows. You should all check out his website, www.paulmessenger.net. Anyway, back to working on this supposed thesis. Ed, I hope this made you happy, I will allow you to now go back to sleep.

The Beginning of the End

For those very few of you who are reading this and do not know me, this is my last semester at college. Its strange, but I am looking forward to graduating. I've had a good time at Brandeis, but Waltham isn't the most exciting town out there. It seems that winter break has lasted a long time. I don't have too much else to say tonight. I've been pretty lazy this vacation, hopefully I will get back in the routine once school starts. The major reason I'm posting tonight is to share this amusing picture of Tom Udall. I was bored today and decided to browse various congressional websites. I stumbled across this great shot of Tom Udall, representing New Mexico's 3rd district. All I can say is that I've never seen a man happier to pose with children than this guy. I now have a blog. Friends, you no longer need to call me, all relevant information will be placed here. I was going to set this thing up earlier, but blogspot screwed me. I registered for the blogname, pauliday, which i was very excited about. I think my mistake was, not posting right away. I signed up for it, but when I returned to post, blogspot told me that this blog doesn't exist. Oh well. Anyway, please excuse how simple the blog is now.
