I thought the rest stop on the way to Chicago was creepy....

But the rest stop in western Pennsylvania on the way back was simply terrifying. Alex and I set back to Boston after an awesome week in Chicago and pulled off the road to gas up in Clearfield, PA. I went inside to what I thought was just a convenience store while Alex was pumping gas. Inside I found a diner attached to the store. Sounds normal enough, right? Wrong. The dining room was packed but it was earily quiet and everyone was just looking down at their plate. Fine, quiet hicks minding their own business. I can deal with that. But they gave me the coldest stares as I walked to the bathroom. OK, still fine, I'm an outsider. I went to the convenience store after the bathroom to go get a drink and next to all the drinks and snacks was a whole lot of hunting equipment. Umm, lets review, creepy quiet hicks, cold stares and guns. Methinks its time for this outsider Jew to hit the road. Alex and I agreed in the car that we were never so happy to leave a rest stop. We've stopped for the night in the middle of PA. It's a lot more populated which is comforting. And hey, can't complain about a motel with free WIFI. However, Alex can complain about the protein stain (haha, protein...) he found on his blanket.
